Ductmate Industries is headquartered in Charleroi, Pa., with a secondary office and manufacturing facility located in Lodi, Calif., for maximum coast-to-coast support. In 2004, Ductmate made a strategic decision to reorganize its holdings into separate divisions to better meet the expected market growth. DMI Companies was created as a holding company to organize and maintain the separate brand identities of Ductmate Industries along with other industry-related enterprises or divisions. With total personnel of 150, Ductmate features 205,300 total square feet between its two Pennsylvania and California manufacturing facilities. Ductmate has more than 400 distributors nationwide plus additional manufacturing/distribution sites located in Australia, Canada, England and Scotland offering a wide range of air-regulation hardware products. A History of Problem Solving As a mechanical engineer, Peter Arnoldt saw a need to develop a better system for the construction and connection of commercial rectangular ductwork. In 1978, Arnoldt founded Ductmate Industries with the creation of the Ductmate ‘35’ Rectangular Duct Connection System at his first facility in West Mifflin, PA, located outside Pittsburgh. This innovative product became not only the company moniker but represented the company’s cornerstone business of creating high-quality HVAC accessories. Arnoldt’s entrepreneurial spirit allowed him to spend much of his time in the field where he quickly realized there were opportunities to further expand Ductmate Industries beyond the sole manufacture of connectors. Product Offering Grows Quickly Over the next years, Ductmate greatly expanded its product line to cover more HVAC accessories. The original Ductmate ‘35’ flange quickly gave way to the ‘25’ and ‘45’ rectangular models with patented corner clip accessories and highly improved gaskets. Later, spiral connectors such as the Spiralmate and Quick-Sleeve were soon added for oval/round ducting and related accessories. Then various types of access doors for rectangular and round ducts became a focal point specifically designed for easy installation regardless of application needs. And gradually, Ductmate ventured into the realm of developing its own “union-made” sealants and adhesives to provide long-lasting bonds for air-tight and water-tight installations. The Clutcher™ mechanical system hanger and EZ-Lock™ wire rope beam clamp represent the latest line of Ductmate product innovations. Together, the two devices comprise a heavy-duty wire rope hanging solution. This safe and quick-installing system meets the International Code Council’s newly created seismic rating guidelines where such building code mandates are required. A Passion for Customer Service Ductmate Industries strives to provide state-of-the-art efficiency and technical support to all of its distributors or customers alike. DMI and its holding companies frequently present various engineering seminars and industry-related service tips on numerous topics as a means of keeping the public up to date. Besides providing easy access for online product orders, Ductmate is also among a select few within the HVAC accessories industry to have its own online training area known as Ductmate University.
