Committees

SMACNA of Western Pennsylvania has a number of committees that work to improve the sheet metal industry in western Pennsylvania and help the Association to plan various functions.

Apprenticeship Committee

This committee is one half of the joint committee responsible for apprentice training.  They work in cooperation with our labor partners at SMWIA Local 12.

Budget and Finance Committee

This committee develops and recommends to the Board of Directors, an annual operating budget for the Association.  It also requires a certified audit of the Association's finances, which shall be reviewed by the Board annually.

By-Laws Committee

This committee reviews and updates the Association's by-laws as necessary.

Health and Welfare/Annuity Trustees

These are the trustees responsible for the overseeing and administration of the Welfare program along with the representatives of organized labor.  This committee shall be elected by the Board of Directors for a period of four (4) years.

James Strother - SMACNA of Western Pennsylvania

JAB/JATF/LMCC

This committee shall be responsible for contracts and relations with organized labor and for negotiating for the industry's collective bargaining agreements with representatives of organized labor.  This committee shall also be trustees responsible for the joint administration of the Journeyman Apprentice Training Fund and the Labor Management Cooperation Fund.

Legislative Committee

The Legislative Committee shall deal with governmental agencies when required for general matters pertaining to health licensing, standardization codes, proposed legislation and related matters concerning the sheet metal industry.

Safety Committee

The Safety Committee shall attend all safety-related functions involving the Association and keep members informed about safety-related matters.
